Professional experience  

Staff attorney, Mental Disability Advocacy Center (since 2004)  

Legal advisor, Karelian Regional Advocacy Organization (2000-2004). Duties include human rights advocacy (legal counseling, monitoring law reform, advising staff on legal issues, and legal aid to the community on assignment of the director), grant writing and participation in various activities of the organization, including preparing workshops and conferences.  

Assistant lecturer , Petrozavodsk State University (since 1999). Lecturing in constitutional law, human rights law, international law and medical law.  

Program coordinator (intern), International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission, San Francisco , CA , USA (May-July, 2002). Duties included supervising the Asylum program, maintaining database of cases and documentation to support asylum claims, drafting legal documents.

Research assistant , Michigan State University , USA (Jan-May 2002). Duties included doing legal research for College of Law .

Staff lawyer , State Hospital of the Republic of Karelia, Russia (1998 – 2001). Duties included legal counseling for hospital administration, physicians, and patients, representing the Hospital in courts and administrative bodies, preparing presentations for the staff.
