Reviewer comments on corruption book co-edited by IPF fellow Daniel Smilov: "As political finance and corruption issues get primacy in comparative academic literature and public policy discussion, this book will be a major comparative reference volume."

The IPF-inspired book Political Finance and Corruption in Eastern Europe, published by Ashgate and co-edited by fellow Daniel Smilov, including five chapters by IPF fellows, received the following review from Dr. Menachem Hofnung, Chair of the International Political Science Association Research Committee on Political Finance and Political Corruption: "[The book] brings scholarship and public debate in Eastern Europe to another level. The 11 national studies in this volume reveal a rich diversity of practices, mechanisms and innovations in funding democratic activity in emerging democracies. As political finance and corruption issues get primacy in comparative academic literature and public policy discussion, this book will be a major comparative reference volume." The book's acknowledgments include the following statement about IPF: "The stimulating intellectual environment of this truly international and interdisciplinary programme contributed a lot in the shaping of the [book's] research framework.
