Patients' rights in Southeast Europe

By analyzing existing healthcare legislation in South-East European countries, this paper aspires to identify the most effective policy options for the enforcement of patients' rights. The existing paternalistic and often dehumanized doctor- or institution-patient relationship can only be altered during the transition period if the changing legal environment of EU aspirants is supported by public awareness activities carried out by the civil sector.
