Written by an active participant of feminist movement, this paper offers a unique perspective on the development of women’s organizations in the post-Yugoslav countries, discussing the ways in which international assistance has influenced this process. The first part of the paper starts with an overview of historical background and political context, identifies major actors in the women’s movement, identifies patterns of relationship-building between “donor” international organizations and “recipient” local organizations, concluding that international assistance boosted feminist movement.
