Afghan Fellow Launches New Think Tank in Kabul

16 April 2008

Fellow Ahmad Idrees Rahmani teamed up with several Afghan colleagues to launch a new think tank in Kabul called the Afghanistan Center for Research & Policy Studies (ACRPS).

Inspired by the work of policy research institutes launched by IPF fellows around the world, fellow Ahmad Idrees Rahmani teamed up with several Afghan colleagues to launch a new think tank in Kabul called the Afghanistan Center for Research & Policy Studies (ACRPS). Idrees recently led a team of local and international specialists that conducted field research in Afghanistan and drafted the country's five-year plan for subnational governance. While conducting this research, he applied techniques learned from the program's policy trainings and formal consultations with other fellows. Among other initiatives, the ACRPS will provide economic development policy analysis to Afghanistan's parliamentarians and ministers from the executive branch. Idrees will present ACRPS's first research paper to the international donor community at a ceremony inaugurating the official launch of the Center in 2008.
