    The objectives of the project are to facilitate joint activities for PhD students of Humanities and Social Sciences in Latvia by organizing four seminars on current social and political issues; produce a study on the state of community outreach activities at Humanities faculties in Latvia and Estonia identifying problems and best practice in the area, based on a series of interviews at Humanities departments of major universities of the two countries; and write a policy study offering recommendations on increasing social engagement of the Humanities in the future for the Humanities department.

    The objectives of the project are to analyze the impact of the official and informal positions of selected international organizations on policy outcomes in Lithuania and other EU accession countries with a special focus on public investment management and international aid distribution; identify the role of objective policymaking versus the willingness to accept international recommendations in the policy process in accession countries; examine the interplay of national policymaking actors' interests as a factor strengthening possibilities for international institutions to influence national political arenas; illustrate these presumptions with sufficient empirical evidence; develop policy recommendations on how an accession country can maximize its policy interests when dealing with international organizations; and write a research and policy paper for the Lithuanian Parliament, Cabinet Office, relevant ministries, and county governments and municipalities.     The objectives of the project are to study the role of strategic environmental assessment (SEA) in the preparation of complex policy documents elaborating national and sectoral programs in the Baltic States with special focus on Estonian cases; review relevant international experience in the field of SEA; analyze the possible impact of SEA on the drafting process of various policy processes and documents; and write a research and policy paper for the Ministries of Environment, Financial Affairs, and Economic Affairs in the Baltic States as well as environmental experts consulting the ministries on SEA issues in those sates.
