2004 - 2005: Environmental risk insurance in Russia to address environmental pollution liabilities
The objectives of the project are to review international experience in managing environmental pollution related health risks through insurance; explore the environmental risk assessment and management policies in the Russian Federation; design a program on voluntary insurance of environmental health risks resulting from industrial pollution for a selected model region; devise recommendations on implementing environmental risk insurance (ERI) at the regional level for the environmental department of the administration of the model region; and write a research and policy paper on ERI for addressing environmental liabilities for the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation.
