for Public Policy PROVIDUS in Riga (Latvia),
policy analyst and historian.
Maria holds an International Policy
Fellowhsip from Open Society Institute.
Her current applied research projects focus
on (1) the impact of external actors on discourses in academia in
transition societies, and (2) policies concerning diversity in national
education systems in EU countries.
Her academic research interests include: (1) social and political
exclusion in elite discourses, and (2) models of political competence
from early modern to postmodern societies.
Maria Golubeva previously worked at the
Policy Coordination Department of the State Chancellery of the Republic
of Latvia, and, between 2001 and 2003, was Director of Research and
Consultation Center at Vidzeme University College in Valmiera, and Head
of Political Science Department at Riga Stradins University.
She holds a PhD in History from
the University of Cambridge (1999).
