2002 - 2003: Inclusive education in Russia: Creating a future together
The goals of the project are to analyze the potential social consequences of introducing integrative/inclusive education into contemporary Russian society; identify advantages and disadvantages of segregated educational systems and test conditions for integrative schooling; conduct an ethnographic evaluation study as well as focus groups and surveys of school children, parents and teachers; engage mass media and the public in discussion of the issue; write a series of articles and a book on social issues of disability and inclusive education; and develop a policy paper for regional educational policymakers including the head of the City Educational Committee, the Ministers of Education and Social Development of the Saratov oblast, and international organizations including UNICEF.
