Globalisation: Challenges to national policy-making, 1st term, IIIrd year.
The course will deal with the concept of economic globalisation, in its three main aspects: free trade, foreign investment and financial market integration as presented in international political economy theory. The course will discuss the challenges globalisation poses to policy making by national states and the strategies for facing these challenges.
EU Public Policies, 2nd term, IIIrd year.
The course presents common sectorial policies: social security, economic policies, environment etc.
Sectorial analyses of public policies - services provision, 1st term, IVth year.
The course aims at familiarizing the students with the most important models of public policy analysis and evaluation. A second goal is to use this theoretical framework in order to explain the actions of the state in various and significant fields of activity. The sector analyses have been chosen according to their relevance for the Romanian experience, and will be dealt with from a comparative approach, with emphasis on Eastern and Central European experiences. The course will be interactive and will combine various methods of teaching and evaluation - e.g. case studies, oral presentations, group projects and essays.
Sectorial analyses of public policies - transfers and regulations, 2nd term, IVth year. The course presents monetary transfers through the analysis of insurances. There is a particular focus on the study of pension systems. A special attention is given to the concept of quasi-markets and the theory of regulation.
